Karen Oikonen is a human-centred design researcher and service designer. Pairing an eye for detail with critical thinking, she has always approached design work from a human-centred perspective. She has over 18 years of professional experience contributing to inter-disciplinary teams in a number of capacities including design research, engagement, systems thinking, foresight and design. Karen holds a Bachelor of Interior Design from the University of Manitoba and a Masters of Design in Strategic Foresight and Innovation from OCAD University.
Karen is focused on the emerging challenges presented by an aging population, with particular interest in using design methodologies to better meet the needs of families during the end-of-life experience.
